HUB Design Studio is a Toronto based industrial design firm, creating brand-building products. Our collective of multidisciplinary talent bridge the gap between the creative world of industrial design and manufacturing, while delivering creative business and design solutions for our clients.
In applying high-tech resources, creativity and imagination, HUB Design Studio ensures our clients objectives become a reality. Our experiences and abilities have allowed us to work with corporate leaders that understand the need for industrial design.
Our primary focus is to design and develop commercial office and healthcare furniture with an emphasis on “speed to market”. Our studio is well equipped to meet and facilitate our ideas, while our passion helps us guide our process. This approach has gained us much success and recognition with our clients.
LILLY
9to5 Seating
This lounge series was introduced at Neocon 2017 in Chicago. The series was designed, developed and engineered by HUB design's Team in an effort to preserve details otherwise lost in the manufacturing process. The result speaks volumes in attention to detail through simple and elegant form.
LUNA
9to5 Seating
Luna was designed to the suit the everyday ergonomic demands, and to suit a variety of environments such as task, conference,
and synergetic areas. Luna emphasizes the need for quality
at a great value.
MUUV
ALIgn1
Muuv’s development started with two physical therapy mantras in mind: 1) get people sitting in the proper way, and 2) mimic the spine. Aesthetically, this philosophy generated unique design and engineering challenges around function and movement that simply doesn’t exist in a typical chair.
In the beginning, if someone had asked us to design a chair to look this way, we likely would have hesitated — but that’s a positive comment. Through the development of Muuv, we pushed into the limits of process, engineering, and design. The end result is an elegantly designed product of not only function, but of need.
SOOTHE
HON
Healthcare facilities are more dynamic than ever, and vital to both the short- and long-term healing process. As a result, healthcare providers recognize the need to enhance comfort, safety and control for both patients and caregivers. Designed specifically for healthcare environments, the Soothe collection maximizes comfort along the patient’s journey to recovery, enhances functionality for the caregiver, and creates the versatility required to deliver a higher level of care.
Our design approach for Soothe was to minimize the need for seems and gaps in an effort to control any fostering of bacteria, and with an ease to clean. This philosophy has resulted in a simplified form both aesthetically and for manufacture.
AQUA
KRUG
Extensively researched and painstakingly designed, Aqua features unique proportions and contouring that make it light and small-scaled in its exterior footprint, but spacious and exceptionally comfortable on the inside.
This (and its sleek style) gives Aqua a multi-purpose appeal, enabling it to suit many functions and environments: conference rooms, training areas, private offices, open plan workstations, as well as hotel and hospitality settings.
SWOOP
HERMAN MILLER
Designed by Brian Kane, HUB Design Studio aided in the development of this iconic Herman Miller product from start
to finish.
During his time as an instructor at the California College of Art, industrial designer Brian Kane observed how students interacted with furniture in public spaces on campus.
He noticed that very few of them sat in what might be considered a traditional way. They perched on arms. They curled up. They sprawled out. This observation inspired a versatile and fluid design response, which became the Swoop family of lounge furniture.
FORAY
GEIGER
Foray was designed to meet the gap between existing task and executive seating. Designed by New York based firm ECCO Design, HUB Design worked closely with all parties to ensure a seamless start to finish development.
Foray features an organic take on the traditional architectural silhouette, softened by shapes that are fluid while preserving the classic character of the chair. Designed with Geiger's intimate knowledge of the executive office and based on the Herman Miller Harmonic tilt platform, Foray is available in two heights, three finishes and three arm styles
